Is innovation a 'silver bullet' in development?

“Corporate social investment could be increasing its impact through innovation and we want to help,” says Patrick Krappie, General Manger of Strategic Partnerships at the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). Mr Krappie was speaking at Trialogue’s CSI Matters Forums held in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in September 2013.

CSI practitioners remain wary of implementing innovation for the sake of innovation, and rightfully so. But as one practitioner said at the close of the Durban CSI Matters Forum: “No one knows what the possibilities for change are or where the answers will come from, so don’t rule out innovation.”
