Audrey Abakah is head of SME, agency banking and partnership at Absa Bank. She has a more than 19 years’ working relationship with the bank, which was previously known as Barclays Bank. Her leadership has transformed and expanded Absa’s SME banking unit into a thriving, award-winning business. Prior to her current role, she served as head of service excellence and was a member of the country management team for four years. She pioneered the Absa/Young Africa Works programme in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, Absa’s women’s banking initiative, and the Absa InspireMe Conference which has been organised annually across Africa. She has received multiple awards and citations, including being recognised as one of the top ten women in banking to watch in Africa, at the Angaza Awards in Kigali. She is a board member of Rehoboth Foundation, Cassona Global Imaging Company Limited Ghana, and president of the Absa Women’s Network Forum.
