Beryl Traore is the social impact lead at Sappi Southern Africa, where she spearheads the implementation of the region’s social impact strategy. With more than 20 years’ experience in community development, Beryl has dedicated her career to serving local communities and driving national projects and programmes. She played a pivotal role in guiding Sappi towards a more impactful approach to community initiatives, leveraging principles of asset-based community development and shared value. Holding a degree in social sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Beryl’s passion for community empowerment was further enriched during her time as a Clinton Democracy Fellow, expanding her networks and exploring innovative social solutions. Prior to her current role at Sappi, Beryl served as the programmes head at loveLife, a renowned NPO with a strong track record in youth health initiatives in South Africa.
