Bukelwa Nzimande is a PhD candidate at the Power Futures Lab, at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. Her research focuses on distributed energy and power sector transitions, with a special emphasis on the democratisation of energy in South Africa. Bukelwa previously worked as a climate, energy, and sustainability professional involved in research, capacity building and communication, policy development processes, and project management. Bukelwa is a social and environmental justice activist who has also contributed and led related projects within civil society organisations. She is committed to the pursuit of inclusive and progressive work, presenting contextual and intersectional solutions to the development challenges in society.
