Dr Imtiaz Sooliman is the founder of international humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers Foundation, which he set up at the behest of a spiritual leader in Turkey, who urged him to serve people in need across the world. The former medical doctor, who qualified from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Medical School in 1984, has focused on his calling ever since, prioritising disaster relief, water provision, hunger alleviation, healthcare, education, and human development. Dr Sooliman’s awards include the President’s Order of the Star of South Africa, the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club in 2005, and the Presidential Award for assistance provided during the 2006 Pakistan earthquake from former president Pervez Musharraf.
