Dr Mao Amis is the Founder and Executive Director of the African Centre for a Green Economy (AfriCGE), which he set up in 2012. AfriCGE is a non-profit think tank and capacity building organisation based in South Africa. Prior to founding Africege, Dr. Amis worked as programme Manager for a leading global environmental NGO and for a management consultancy firm, both in South Africa. Dr Amis has extensive experience in green growth and wellbeing issues in Africa and regularly consults for development agencies, government and the private sector across Africa and globally. Dr Amis holds an MSc and PhD in Conservation Biology from the University of Cape Town
