Gugu McLaren-Ushewokunze leads the National Business Initiative’s (NBI) Social Transformation programme. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing the NBI’s programme to engage business in driving social transformation with the aim of addressing inequality and inequity. Gugu has more than 12 years’ experience in social transformation and sustainable development. She has spearheaded the development and implementation of sustainable development strategies across sectors and industries. Prior to joining the NBI, Gugu spent six years at Discovery, where she supported the company’s shared value business model. She holds a MSocSc in Gender and Development from the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town.
