Sazini Mojapelo is the Managing Principle responsible for Citizenship and Community Investments at Absa Group. Her expertise lies in developing and executing strategic plans linked to small enterprise development, creating shared value, sustainability and financial inclusion. She conceptualised and drove the Barclays Africa Shared Growth strategy, ensuring that the bank’s social agenda was central to business strategy. Prior to this, she co-founded NPO Hand in Hand Southern Africa and, as CEO, worked to empower more than 100 000 women and youth in micro and small businesses in peri-urban and rural areas of South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Lesotho. Sazini holds a double major degree in Sociology and Industrial Psychology and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Cape Town. She is also a Harvard Business School graduate.
