Sonwabise Mzinyathi’ heads up global policy and government affairs for southern and East Africa at Global Citizen. She was previously a diplomat at the South African High Commission in India and worked for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, which laid the foundation for her career in public policy, regulatory strategy and advocacy.
She headed up the Africa public relations division for Refinitiv and was a board director at Cisco. She is currently a trustee of the Cisco Charitable Foundation.She is the chairperson of the South African Women in ICT Forum, the deputy chair of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment ICT Sector Council, and the policy and advocacy co-chair of the South African Coalition on Menstrual Health Management. Sonwabise is in the 2021 Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) cohort.
